Warriors in our Modern World, for the most part have peace as their ultimate goal, but most warriors believe the only way peace can be accomplished is through war. With the recent extreme violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, CT and other disturbing incidents in schools across the nation, the question, especially if we are parents or teachers is: How can we make our schools really safe for our children? The Government and other officials in power always seem to offer solutions that bring more authority and control into the schools, making some of them appear like prisons. This is NOT the answer nor is it the solution altogether. You can keep guns and knives out of the schools with increased security, but you can’t keep out the attitudes, beliefs, and prejudices that cause students to be cruel and mistreat each other. The answer lies in changing the emotional climate of our schools altogether. How can this change be accomplished? Please listen and find out how you can help if you choose to do so. IDA is a non-profit organization which rescues, gives sanctuary to, and provides veterinary care for abused and abandoned animals. In the USA, IDA also works to protect our nation’s wild horses, campaigns against puppy mills, vivisection, the fur industry, and on behalf of elephants and other wild animals mistreated in zoos and circuses. Internationally, IDA works to halt animal abuse in India, Africa, and parts of Asia. IDA will celebrate it’s 30 year anniversary in 2013, and is now recognize as a leader for the advancement of animal rights and welfare around the world. Doll Stanley is one of IDA’s Regional Directors of Investigations, and has worked with IDA since their founding in 1983. After being instrumental in shutting down two large USDA animal dealers for abuse in Mississippi, Doll and IDA founded the Hope Animal Sanctuary in 1993 which has since then, helped thousands of animals to be free from abuse and neglect. IDA’s Hope Animal Sanctuary has helped to shut down abusive puppy mills, pet shop suppliers, exotic animal hoarders, dog fighting rings, and has rescued many other animals from neglect and suffering in backyards, barns, and pastures. John Melia is an Attorney with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, a non-profit organization with several ongoing programs dedicated to the legal protection of animals. These programs are: LITIGATION - filing cutting edge lawsuits to stop abuse of companion animals, and animals abused in industries including factory farming and the entertainment industry, ANIMAL LAW - fostering the field of animal law among legal professionals and in law schools nationwide, CRIMINAL JUSTICE - which works with law enforcement and prosecutors to seek maximum penalties for animal abusers. John Melia joined the Animal Legal Defense Fund in 2011 after earning his Law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
